This course will explore some central themes from the philosophy and history of science, epistemology, and the ethics of science. Among others, we will study the generation and the structure of scientific knowledge, the relationships between science and our society, scientific practices (like modeling or the use of “big data”), and the connections between science and technology.
Teaching methods
This will primarily be a traditional lecture course; I will present concepts, problems, and classic interpretive questions from the philosophy of science, applied as much as possible to your scientific degree program.
Evaluation methods
The evaluation will take the form of a written exam.
