This training is a hands-on course that familiarizes students with EU funded programmes and the projects and activities attached to such EU funded programmes and framework contracts both within the European Commission as well as external partners and recipients of such EU funds . Through real-life cases, students learn the practicalities on how to build EU funded programmes and how to use such EU funds for their organisation

The aim of the course is to familiarise students with EU funds
The lessons will browse the following topics:

- Introductory Session - A 360° approach to working with EU funded projects
- Understanding the EU budget and the related funding mechanisms – an external perspective
- EU financial framework contracts – How to work for and with the EU institutions and agencies
- EU policies and their related EU funding programmes – Categories and Segments of EU
- Case Study One, Framework contract – Preparing the offer for CoR – The Committee of the Regions
- Case Studies Two, Horizon Europe or Bauhaus Europe – How to use EU funds to accelerate a start-up projects
- Review of key skills to become an expert in EU-funded contracts and projects
- EU External Policies and Financial Instruments. Key actors, geographic coverage, implementing partners. Thematic Components. Multi annual country and regional indicative programmes.
- The strive for quality: the intervention project cycle. Annual action plans and Action Documents. The logical framework approach (LFA).
- Results and Monitoring. Result Oriented Monitoring and Key Reports. Key Performance Indicators.
- Mode of implementation. Direct, Indirect, Share Management. Grants. Service, Works and Supply Contracts.
- Innovative Financing. The Global gateway. Investment Guarantees.
- Practical Session. The students – divided in groups - will be guided to discuss and analyze a selection of EU public official documents studied in previous modules

The course will mix different teaching methods. Lectures will be kept to a minimum to give priority to interactive seminars, case studies.

During the introductory session, the evaluation method will be explained to the students
This will be a mix of a) evaluation criteria attached to the participation and presence of students in the lessons (questions asked, ideas shared, etc.) and b) continuous evaluation of the acquis by asking student to answer a 5 questions QCM at the end of each session
