Panorama of the historical conditions in which the social and cultural life of Spain developed and which led to the creation of a "Hispanic community": medieval mosaic; the presence of three cultures (Christian, Arabic and Jewish); the unification at the end of the 15th century; the emergence of modern Spain.
Aims

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

At the end of the course, the student :
- will master the principal aspects and stages of the history of Spain from the 6th to the 17th century;
- will be able to locate in its historical context a literary or artistic work of the concerned period.

Content
Panorama of the historical conditions in which the social and cultural life of Spain developed and which led to the creation of a "Hispanic community": medieval mosaic; the presence of three cultures (Christian, Arabic and Jewish); the unification at the end of the 15th century; the emergence of modern Spain.
Teaching methods
The course will be based, as much as possible, on iconographic, historical and literary documents.
Evaluation methods
Oral exam in Spanish.

Course material is made up of written documents and illustrations in the form of slides available on Moodle. The course reference manual is Historia de España, J. Valdeón, J. Pérez, S. Juliá, Madrid, Austral 2011 (pp. 67-292).
