Main themes
This course introduce to the current debates in development studies. It aims to equip students with tools to analyze theories, projects, politics and practices of development.
Aims

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

To master the main development theories and orientations

To be able to use the analytical tools provided to analyze projects and practices of development

To be able to participate to a debate on contemporary development issues, at a global a local level

To be able to present, with solid arguments, a critical point of view on development

Content
The courses contents two parts, completed by texts and forums on Moodle. The first part presents the key theories and orientations in development studies from 1950s to 2010s. The second part contains thematic workshops on the main contemporary topics in development studies, at global and local level.
Evaluation methods
The evaluation contains two parts: a multiple choices questionnaire (about the first part of the course and the lectures) and an open question (you will be able to consult your notes for this part of the exam).
