Main themes
To reach its aims, this course shall explore a specific issue in the history of Modern Christianity by studying all its dimensions (historical, litterary, doctrinal). The study of documents in their historical and shall theological context shall help further this exploration.

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

By the end of this course, students shall be able to study an issue in the history of Modern Christianity (19th and 20th century) by examining all its dimensions (historical, litterary, theological); to critically study historical sources and become proficient in the use of the tools relevant to historical study

Content

Course 'What is a theologian? Historical approach (19th ' 20th centuries)
(1) Introduction to the questions and methods of the history of knowledge (2) Exploration of the history of theology from the point of view of the history of knowledge (3) presentation of the methodology for case studies (3) Presentation and discussion of the handouts.
Teaching methods
The course shall start with an historigraphical introduction and then focus on study of cases (including those that will provide the basis for the dossiers that the students will and hand out, present and discuss).
Evaluation methods
The evaluation will take into account active participation in the course, the writing of research dossier and its presentation and discussion in class.
