Content
This course follows on from LARKE1145 course (arke11ba) concerning the learning of the scientific methodology specific to history of art, by developing the analysis of a piece of art, either architectural or carved (state of the art, description, work of art history, technologic, iconographic, stylistic and typological analysis). Building of a personal reflection on the work studied and its context, by associating field observations, documentary research, as well as internal and external criticism.
Teaching methods
Combination of teachers' presentations and interactions with the students (debates, individual or collective presentations, methodology exercises).
These audience sessions are associated with practical works in situ in Belgian museums and heritage sites.
The student's progression through his or her work will be subject to individual monitoring by the teachers and their assistants.
Evaluation methods
Certificate continuous assessment formalized by the realization of practical works during the academic year on the first hand, and the active participation in the seminar sessions. Success depends on participation to all activities as well as the works realized during the academic year.
In December and May, end-of-term certificate assessments will cover the two individual works on the analysis of a work of art (architectural or sculpted) under both written and oral forms.
In the event of a second registration, the student will have to bring the necessary corrections to the individual works of both May and December.
