This biannual course is taught on years 2015-2016, 2017-2018, ....
To achieve its objectives, the course will cover the following topics: exegesis of selected texts according to their theological or cultural importance and varying as much as possible the literary genres (myths, narratives, laws, prophetic oracles, psalms, Wisdom texts). Care will be taken to give a sufficiently broad sample of the main exegetical methods (narratology, rhetoric, socio-historical, poetic). As far as possible, texts centered on one or two major theological themes (covenant, election, law, worship ...) will be chosen. The formation will be supplemented by a reading portfolio.
At the end of this course, the student will be able to recognize the great literary genres of the Hebrew Bible, situate the main methods and their own impact, and to uncover the theological significance of a biblical text from rigorous exegesis.
