Main themes
The seminar discusses specific problems related to the interpretation of contemporary art including the functions of art in certain institutional and social contexts.
Aims

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

The course will deepen the knowledge about the production and the aesthetic concepts in contemporary art.
It is the aim of the seminar that the student develops a critical sense and analytical methods as well as the ability to deal with a specific subject in contemporary art.

Content
The course will address the question of how the city is represented and explored within contemporary video art.
The topics and the organization of the course will be in relation to the exhibition "Villes en mouvement" (cities in movement) which will take place at Musée L (Louvain-la-Neuve) from 2 to 16 mai 2019.
Teaching methods
Group work : Conception of an exhibition + oral papers.

 
Evaluation methods
The students are evaluated on the basis of their active participation, a presentation, and a paper on a specific subject.
