Prerequisites
This course is offered to students whose program corresponds to the annual block 3 of the Bachelor degree in Biomedical Sciences, as well as to students following a program preparatory to the Master in Biomedical Sciences.

Main themes


This activity takes the form of a laboratory internship of 10 half-days. The internship takes place in a laboratory of the Health Sector of UCLouvain.
Aims

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

At the end of this activity, the student will be able to:

1.       Implement a set of simple experiments to answer a research hypothesis.

2.       Keep a laboratory notebook according to the standard procedures.

3.       Describe and interpret experimental results.

4.       Have a critical look at his/her results with respect to scientific literature.

5.       Write a scientific report.

6.       Present and defend orally the results obtained during the internship.

Content
Laboratory internship, accompanied by training seminars to write a scientific report.
Evaluation methods
An evaluation is carried out by the promoter of the internship. It focuses on the experimental skills of the student, the rigor with which he or she conducted the internship and the relevance of the interpretation of his/her results. This evaluation is completed by the one performed by the person in charge of the accompanying seminars, who assesses (i) how the student has integrated the information of the accompanying seminars into his/her internship report (ii) the oral presentation of his/her internship.
