Prerequisites
As for all the courses available for students in ROM, ROGE or LAFR, excellent working knowledge of French is required, both in reading and writing. As far as the argumentative writing is concerned, no specific prerequisite is required.
Content
By mastering the fundamental principles of logic and argument, students will develop a critical spirit and the rhetorical tools needed to construct a correctly articulated and convincing scientific argument.
To illustrate these concepts, we will use numerous examples taken from literature but also from the press, advertising, political speeches, etc.
In the practical work sessions or at home, students will produce a minimum of three pieces of written work. Special attention will be paid to quotations and references in this work, so as to combat plagiarism effectively.
