The 4 days of fieldwork are devoted to an examination of aspects of the geology of Belgium to illustrate, in three dimensions, the basic geological phenomena treated in the courses AGRO1100 and GEO1251. The various features of physical geography are considered in context, and attention is given to the exploitation of rocks and their uses.
Aims

1 Initiation into the methods of observation, analysis and interpretation of geological phenomena in the field, viewed in their regional context.

Content
The course consists in six days in the field that aim at exploring the geography of Belgium by a panorama of landscapes. Two days are allocated to urban and periurban geography. They illustrate concepts that the students will have studied in class LGEO1221. Two days are allocated to Belgian geology, with the concrete and tri-dimensional study of geological objects. Finally, two days are allocated to geology and physical geography, and rural geography. The four days covering geology develop further the bases described in courses LBIR1130 and LGEO1251.
