The students present by groups of more or less three students a subject determined every year by the teachers. They have to look for articles dealing with this subject in the international reviews. The usual subjects are among others: - orthopaedic and traumatic rehabilitation including the spinal column; - cardio-respiratory rehabilitation and vascular; - neurological rehabilitation; - evaluation of the disabled person and the old person, including the rehabilitation of the walking. The contents should take into account the biomechanics and the physiotherapy, physiological techniques.

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

1 Know how to realize a synthesis on a subject dealing with the rehabilitation or with patients' rehabilitation (neurological rehabilitation, orthopaedic, etc.) and this from an article resumed in the international literature.

The contribution of this Teaching Unit to the development and command of the skills and learning outcomes of the programme(s) can be accessed at the end of this sheet, in the section entitled “Programmes/courses offering this Teaching Unit”.
The goal of this course is to train the students to read, comment and synthesize english scientific papers in relation with the physical therapy and the rehabilitation. The papers will be selected in the international reviews with peer review. The students moreover will be invited to orally present their synthesis which will be the object of a constructive criticism and an evaluation.
Teaching methods

Due to the COVID-19 crisis, the information in this section is particularly likely to change.

Work in small classes of 70 students divided into groups of 4-5 students. The course is given over one month during the Q1 of Bac3 (from October to January). The course is given in the month in which the students do not have an internship. A presentation of the work to be carried out and the objectives of the course is made by the coordinator at the beginning of the month. The students form their small working group (4-5 students) and receive an article in English to read and work on for 2-3 weeks.
The students work together in teams during these 2 or 3 weeks and prepare their oral presentation to be made at the end of the month.
At the end of the month, the students present their article orally and are questioned by their teacher about it. The grade of the presentation is their exam grade.
The course will be given either face-to-face or on TEAMS depending on the instructions received due to the health crisis.
Evaluation methods

Due to the COVID-19 crisis, the information in this section is particularly likely to change.

Attendance at the course is MANDATORY whether the course is given in person or by TEAMS. Students who do not come to the first course (or are not present on TEAMS) cannot present the paper because they have not received the explanatory information and are not integrated in a group.
There is no opportunity to take an exam because the material is worked on for one month in a group. Students must then re-register for the course the following year.
The exam consists of an oral presentation of the paper.
