Prerequisites

The prerequisite(s) for this Teaching Unit (Unité d’enseignement – UE) for the programmes/courses that offer this Teaching Unit are specified at the end of this sheet.
Content
We address the psychomotor development of the young child. First, we study the development of healthy children from birth to 3 years of age in terms of archaic and tendon reflexes, motor reactions, tone and motor acquisitions. Then we look at the motor acquisitions of the child between 3 and 8 years old: general coordination, fine motor skills, laterality, body schema, spatial and temporal organization.
We will also discuss psychomotricity and its deficits in old age.
Teaching methods

Due to the COVID-19 crisis, the information in this section is particularly likely to change.

Because of the health crisis, the practical courses are exceptionally modified this year. The theoretical course is maintained and will be given either in person or on TEAMS according to the colour code.
- Theoretical course with video illustration
- 1 Practical course with very young children (babies from 0 to 3 years old) to learn the assessments of the young child. The courses will be given in half classes and will therefore be repeated twice. Some technical consellers will offer the course by podcast to be watched by oneself.
- The other practical courses will be given on TEAMS by the students. The students will get together in pairs, receive a theme proposed by their teacher, prepare a PODCAST on the theme and then present it orally. The podcast consists in preparing a psychomotricity session to be carried out in tele-rehabilitation (either by the child himself, or by the parents or the elderly person). The podcast is the examination. There is no additional theoretical exam this year.
Evaluation methods

Due to the COVID-19 crisis, the information in this section is particularly likely to change.

CONTINUOUS EVALUATION - NO IN-SESSION EXAMS
Due to the health crisis, students are evaluated only on their PODCAST presented during one of the practical sessions on TEAMS.
In case of failure, the student will be able to submit a podcast after agreement with the course coordinator. This work must be submitted by mid-August. There is no examination session organised.
If two podcasts are identical, they will be considered as cheating and the 2 podcasts will have 0 with notification to the president of the cheating juries. The sanction will then be decided by the jury. This can go up to the exclusion of the UCLouvain.
