Main themes
The course deals with the archaeology of Western Europe, highlighting the contribution of the material and environmental sources of Iron Age cultures to contemporary times. The documentation and archaeological practices in Belgium are highlighted within this general framework.
Aims

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

1 At the end of the course, the genesis and characteristics of the cultures of each major period of Western history will have been discussed. The student will be able to identify the main material witnesses and place them in the socio-economic context of each period. The student will have become familiar with the organisation and contributions of so-called national archaeology in Belgium and neighbouring countries.
