Main themes
The main topics addressed in this course concern the ICF classification (International Classification of Functionning, Disability and Health) proposed by WHO (2001) which will serve as a reference frame in order to classify the different functional scales used to measure impairment, disability and restriction in participation of the patients. The psychometric properties of each scale will be described.
Aims

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

1 At the end of the course the successful student will be able to realize a functional evaluation of his patients. He will be able to choose and use the appropriate scale presenting satisfying psychometric qualities in order to measure impairments, disabilities and restrictions in participation of his patients. The teaching will be given as lectures associated with readings of scientific papers.

Content
The main topics will be the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) proposed by the WHO (2001), which will serve as a reference framework for classifying the various functional assessment scales for measuring impairments, activity limitations and participation restrictions of patients. The psychometric qualities of each of the functional assessment scales will be described. At the end of this course, the student will be able to select and use appropriate tests with satisfactory psychometric qualities to evaluate the impairments, disabilities, and participation difficulties encountered by his patients.
Teaching methods

Due to the COVID-19 crisis, the information in this section is particularly likely to change.

Theoretical presentation of the ICF model, the psychometric properties of the tests, the Rasch model and the statistics to be applied according to the questionnaires.
Project-based work (5 students) around a clinical case taking into account the ICF model. Research of ad hoc clinical tests, justification of their psychometric qualities, explanation of how the tests are taken and how to rate them.
The course will be given either face-to-face or on TEAMS depending on the instructions received due to the health crisis.
Evaluation methods

Due to the COVID-19 crisis, the information in this section is particularly likely to change.

Theoretical part: written exam: 50% of the points in the form of multiple choice questions.
Practical part: presentation of a clinical case in groups of 5-6 students at the end of the semester. 50% of the points
The overall score is the sum of the two ratings. However, if one of the two scores is failing, we take half of the failing points out of the score. Example the student has 14/20 and 8/20. Overall grade 11/20 minus 1 point because two points of failure: final grade 10/20
The student who has not presented the practical part cannot pass the theoretical part.
for a mark below 10/20, the final mark will be the mark obtained without decimal points (9.8/20 becomes 9/20).
- For a score higher than 10/20 :
- below 0.51, rounding down (13.50/20 becomes 13/20).
- from 0.51, the rounding is upwards. (13.51/20 becomes 14/20)
