Aims

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

1 The first section deals with physiological and pharmacological control of energy homeostasis. The aims of this section are " To understand the mechanisms those regulate body weight, appetite and food intake, and energy expenditure. " To characterize the deregulation of these mechanisms in some pathological conditions. " To tackle the pharmacological tools that are able to interfere with those mechanisms. The second section of this course deals with " Diseases of Nutrition and endocrine glands ". The aims of this section are to describe and discuss the relationships between nutritional disorders and functional abnormalities of the endocrine system.
 
Content
Content: to acquire the basic knowledge on the physiological, pathophysiological, pharmacological mechanisms that control body weight and on the relationships between nutritional disorders and the functional perturbations of the endocrine system. Methods: plenary lectures, personal preparation of scientific articles with oral presentation
