ARKE 1451 "Art et archéologie de l'Egypte pharaonique et de l'Orient ancien".
Main themes
The course views detailed questions, which change every year. The emphasis is often put on : a) the study of human figure, one of the objectives of art history - as in literature - is to enable humans to find their fellow creatures, b) the improvement of chronology, as indispensable basis for every investigation. Problems of architecture may also be taken into account.
Learning outcomes

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

1 Advanced training for students who are interested in archaeology and art history of Pharaonic Egypt.
 
Content
The royal and private necropolises of the western bank of Thebes during the New Kingdom (archaeology, architecture and decoration of the funerary monuments).
Teaching methods
Lecture classes with visual support (powerpoint)
Evaluation methods
Oral examination (in June and September if needed). 4 questions : 3 specific questions /4 (image recognition + descriptive and interpretative commentary) ; 1 thematic question /8. Total /20
