Content
This activity addresses the societal issues  involving living organisms and biology. It is proposed in the bachelor programm in biology.
Teaching methods
Each year, a societal question relating to biology is addressed. It is organized in the form of a role play in which the participants, gathered in teams, are asked to take on a role corresponding to one of the stakeholders in the debate. Each stakeholder is required to develop an argument to defend their position and their own interests. The other stakeholders must analyze this argument and respond to it. At the end of the activity, the various stakeholders are brought together in order to produce a common document such as those that could be submitted to the authorities responsible for developing a policy and regulations relating to the issue being dealt with.
In 2021-22, the question addressed is that of Genetically Modified Organisms.
Evaluation methods
The reports produced by the teams are evaluated during the process. A score is assigned to the team, which score is weighted using the (self) assessment performed by the members of each team.
 
Other information
Participation to all meetings/activities is required.
