Main themes
Presentation and study of the properties of the ancient Egyptian image, especially as a “sign” and how it is integrated into the architectural space that it does ornament.
Then, presentation and implementation of a method of analysis, which enables us to separate iconographical units into their constitutive elements and to highlight the encoded discourse.
Learning outcomes

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

At the end of the class, the students are able to properly describe ancient Egyptian images et identify their elements (rites, divinities, crowns, etc.).
They also have been introduced to semiotics and are able to analyse complex iconographical systems.
