LGLOR1671/1672 and/or LGLOR1541, or knowledge of Sanskrit estimated sufficient by the teacher.
Main themes
Alternating with the course LGLOR2672, this course covers the following topics:
  1. elements of historical and comparative grammar of the Indo-Aryan languages;
  2. elements of typology of Indo-Aryan languages (from Old Indo-Aryan / Sanskrit to modern Indo-Aryan languages), in synchronic and diachronic perspectives.
Learning outcomes

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

1 have an analytical understanding of the peculiarities of the Indo-Aryan languages from a historical-comparative and typological point of view;
 
2 understand the major developments in the history of the Indo-Aryan languages.
 
Teaching methods
Lectures together with an exercise of synthesis and presentation by the student on a proposed topic.

English-friendly course: course taught in French but offering facilities in English.
Facilities also offered in Dutch, German and Russian.
