Content
This teaching unit aims at developing the Dutch communication skills of the student in order to enable him/her to function in the relevant social and professional contexts. More precisely it involves
  • the training of interactive communication,
  • the presentation and training of communication skills related to professional life (contributing to / organizing and conducting a meeting, taking part in a jobinterview / a negociation, writing formal letters, writing and presentation of a report),
  • the improvement of the command of general and specific vocabulary and grammar in order to apply these communication skills.
Teaching methods
  • Lessons in groups of max. 20 students
  • Depending on the health context this course will be given in face-to-face mode.
This teaching unit focuses on interactive communication within the professional framework. The proposed activities therefore aim at developing communication skills in that area, as well as improving the command of the language.

These activities, which simulate real-life situations, are of two types:
  1. presentation and training of language functions related to professional life (contributing to / organizing and conducting a meeting, taking part in a jobinterview / a negociation, writing formal letters ...),
  2. individual and interactive speaking activities related to the placement. This part includes a report on the placement the student is doing,  and a presentation of this report followed by an informal exchange of viewpoints.
These activities require a certain amount of preparation on the part of the student, who also has to improve his or her linguistic knowledge autonomously (study of vocabulary and revision of grammar points by means of e-learning on Wallangues.be).
Evaluation methods
Depending on the health context and the availability of large auditoriums, paper-based and oral assessments can be postponed to the session and/or can be done on PC (e.g. on Teams).
  • Continuous assessment (participation in class, writing of report on the placement, presentationthat report, jobinterview and vocabulary test).  This assessment counts for 50% in the final assessment.
  • Oral exam based on a file of presentations given in class. This exam counts for 50% in the final assessment.
  • In September, the student will have to take the oral exam again.
