Main themes
The learning method bases its progressiveness on themes whose subject, whether observed or imagined, evolves mainly from the simplest to the most complex but also iteratively. Architectural, urban and landscape spaces are the main subjects of analysis. In addition to experimenting repeatedly with  tools, questioning their relevance and acquiring the foundations of material practice and project practice, students will develop a cultural openness, a memory based on observation and analysis as well as a personalized experimentation with different media.
This teaching unit confirms the questioning on inhabited spaces -their nature and the properties of architecture- that is made tangible by the representation of these spaces. It is part of the same progressive and cumulative learning process.
The themes addressed in previous Teaching Units (TU) are taken up and continued:
  •     Drawing based on observation
  •     Drawing for research
  •     Drawing for expression
  •     Composition
  •     Drawing for representation
  •     Artistic practices
  •     Communication
In Tournai: The teaching unit consists of three modules: freehand drawing , guided hand drawing  and computer-aided drawing.
The three modules explore a common subject through observation: representing reality, imagination: representing  thoughts, and projection: representing one's thinking process.
The knowledge acquired in these three disciplines is crossed and compared during an independent work of synthesis that allows students to demonstrate their ability to use the tools of representation, expression and communication with accuracy and skill.
Learning outcomes

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

1 Students will master the means of expression required to explore and show an actual or imagined reality: architectural objects and spaces of various scales and levels of complexity. They will therefore be assessed on their ability to confirm the Bachelor's degree following AAs:
Designing a project
  • Analyzing, manipulating, thinking, inventing through drawings, models, artistic practices
Developing an architectural approach
  • Knowing, understanding and using the codes of three-dimensional representation of space
  • Restoring the experience of a spatiality by observing and questioning it
  •  Experimenting and using appropriate means of communication in line with the stated objectives
Situating one's action
  •  Recognizing, observing and describing targeted places and contexts
  • Analyzing places and contexts according to several given methods and from several identified points of view
The student will also be assessed on the following learning outcomes:
Developing an artistic approach
  • Capturing the 'spirit of the age" and identifying the means that will be able to reveal it
  • Discovering and expanding the limits of one's imagination
