At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

1 confront him/herself in a personal and critical way with the topic of the course.

2 argue his/her position, showing that he/she is conscious of the complexity of the questions at stake, also when confronted with various philosophical and religious traditions.

3 clarify the fundamental categories of reflection on ethics and to show how these notions stand out when confronted with the experience of faith and with Christian reflection.

Content
The teacher will present the general principles of fundamental ethics and the links of which with christian faith. Through different concepts, among wich liberty, conscience and the human person, the teacher will tackle critically reflections on ethic decisions which a human being has to face today. In a pluralistic world of which we are an integral part, taking an ethic decision implies open-mindedness to different religious, cultural and social points of view in order to avoid the pitfall of a moralizing and unilateral position.
