Main themes
These objectives will be achieved after a presentation of :
- old Jewish literature texts (Qumran, Pseudepigraphs, Targums, Midrash, Mishna, Talmuds);
- the historical context in which this literature was produced;
- rabbinic biblical texts interpretation methods.
Learning outcomes

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

1 - deal with a question about old Jewish history ;
 
2 - read old Jewish literature ;
 
3 - understand the main hermeneutical process used in this kind of literature.
 
Content
We begin with a summary of Jewish history (since the return of exile until the Middel Ages), and go on presenting old Jewish literature from a biblical point of view (...).
