Science and Christian faith
2.00 credits
15.0 h
Bourgine Benoît; Lambert Dominique;
This course can be chosen by EPL students as an alternative to the Society, Cultures, Religions course.
Science and Christian faith
The course offers the opportunity to carry out an interdisciplinary experience, required by the questioning envisaged. A philosopher of science, prof. Dominique Lambert (UNamur) and a theologian, prof. Benoît Bourgine (UCLouvain), will intervene to try to clarify the problematic of the relationship between science and Christian faith.
A typology of the modes of dialogue and confrontation between sciences and theologies is to be elaborated and tested in order to draw the limits, the scope and the philosophical and theological foundations.
A historical perspective and a presentation of contemporary issues will be proposed.
Teaching methods
Professor Bourgine's syllabus is available at DUC-Ciaco.
Evaluation methods
The exam is a two-hour written exam session with two open-ended questions, a limited list of which is provided to the students: one asked by the professor. D. Lambert, and the other one by prof. Bourgine, respectively on the presentations of one and the other. You are invited to answer each of the questions in about 30 lines.
