Main themes
Introduction to the Chinese world as defined by Jacques Gernet, including both the non-Han minorities and the different diasporas and zones of influence of Chinese civilisation. The course covers the chronological, geographical, political, institutional, intellectual, economic and social frameworks of the Chinese world. 
Learning outcomes

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

1 By the end of this course, students will be able to better understand the frameworks of the history of the Chinese world. They will be able to identify appropriate sources of information available in Western languages.
