Writing the history of the sacraments.
In the continuity of the previous seminars on the Council of Trent and the Tridentine paradigm, and from within a reflection on the historical regimes of Catholicism, the course will revisit the historiography of modern and contemporary Catholicism by examining the way in which historians of the 19th and 20th centuries have dealt with the characteristic object of Catholicism, the sacraments and "sacramentality.
The 19th and early 20th centuries saw the construction of an imaginary of modern Catholicism that determines several aspects of religious life in the contemporary era. Finally, we will study the contemporary and conflicting reinventions of the modern past.

Evaluation methods
The evaluation will take into account active participation in the seminar, the writing of a research dossier and its presentation and discussion in class.
