The main objective of the course is to familiarise students with the different scientific perspectives (both theoretical and experimental) on the relationship between media and politics, broadly defined, as well as the application of these notions to concrete cases and current debates. More generally, the objectives are the acquisition of theoretical understanding, the assimilation of academic texts, the strengthening of critical thinking skills, the formation of opinions on current themes in the social and academic debate and the participation in these debates. Since the course is given entirely in Dutch and participation and discussion will be stimulated, one objective is also to improve the knowledge of Dutch. In connection with this, a secondary objective is a greater knowledge and understanding of Flemish current affairs and in particular of everything to do with the media and politics. |
