| This course aims to provide knowledge and skills for the understanding and analysis of international phenomena. More specifically, it is about: 1. To acquire a series of knowledge on the main actors, issues and rules governing contemporary international relations. 2. To understand the main concepts and theories used in international relations. At the end of the session, the student will be able to associate them with concrete cases. 3. To develop an analytical and critical approach to the ideas put forward by observers and actors in international relations. At the end of the course, the student will be able to produce a critical analysis of the information contained in a short opinion piece on international relations and/or a specific case study. The course is designed to provide students with a critical analysis of the information contained in a short opinion piece on international relations and/or a specific case study, as well as a critical analysis of the information contained in a short opinion piece on international relations and/or a specific case study, as part of the Bachelor's programme. It aims to provide a series of diverse and complementary perspectives on the major contemporary issues in international relations, through an approach that is sometimes historical (the emergence of IR as a discipline in a given context); sometimes theoretical (internationalists have been inspired by the current events of their time and the work of their peers to develop the discipline and propose new analytical modes); and sometimes disciplinary (international relations is a field of study that is not yet fully understood); sometimes disciplinary (international relations are understood differently from the point of view of law, geopolitics, sociology); sometimes practical, through the analysis of fundamental societal debates (global warming; North-South relations and decolonisation) or a series of practical cases and geographical focuses on countries or regions of the world. |
