At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

This course offers a general introduction to operations, supply chain and service management. This course not only delves into the production and distribution of goods, but also deals with the production of services. To achieve this goal, the course covers the basics of production management, planning, logistics and decisions at both the strategic and tactical levels.

To this end, after completing this course, students are expected to be able to define and recognize the basic principles of operations management in business applications. They are also expected to be able to paraphrase the mathematical and static underpinnings of these basic principles and illustrate them with examples. Furthermore, students are expected to be able to model and solve concrete problems.
 
Content
The foundations of operations management are taught through the following subdomains:
• Demand forecasting
• Stock management
• Planning
• Just-in-time
• Waiting-lines
• Quality management
• Project Management
If possible, their operational relevance is exemplified by a company visit or a presentation by a domain professional.
Teaching methods
Face-to-face, 30 hours of theory et 15 hours of exercises
Evaluation methods
The summative assessment is an oral closed-book examination, with written preparation.
The theory portion of the exam assesses the ability to define, recognize, paraphrase and illustrate fundamental concepts.
The practical portion assesses the ability to model and solve concrete problems.
The final mark is the arithmetical average of the marks for the theory and practical sections.
