Prerequisites
Students should also be registered for teaching practice (HIST 9001) and for the teaching practice seminar for history (HIST 2313).
Main themes
The course will examine various aspects of teaching history in secondary schools, namely :
- legal regulations, references, and programmes relating to the French-speaking community in Belgium;
- means of creating and implementing an instructional sequence intended to teach certain historical knowledge and knowledge of how to pursue the discipline of history;
- means of creating and implementing an instructional sequence intended to teach certain skills needed by students in history classes ;
- conceptual skills ;
- evaluation of student learning (knowledge, knowledge of methods, skills), both functional (training vs. certification) and technical.

Content
The course will alternate between exposition of theories and the presentation and critical analysis of instructional sequences in history and other practical tasks.
Evaluation methods
Registration for the didactics test is not required before the June session. No partial assessment is scheduled for the January session.
Assessment is based on :
continuous assessment: regular attendance at sessions, regular involvement in discussions and work to be carried out during sessions, timely submission of preparatory or follow-up work to course sessions on moodle, design and presentation of a digital teaching/learning activity during Q2.
a final assignment. This assignment, due at the end of Q2, takes the form of a written document on the evaluation and remediation of a lesson taught during the course.
The assessment is graded (/20). The final paper is weighted at 70% and course participation at 30% of the final grade.
For the September session, in addition to the final assignment, students will be asked to complete any intermediate assignments that have not been submitted during the year or that have been deemed insufficient.
Detailed instructions and procedures for submitting the final paper will be communicated at the beginning of the second term.
Regular attendance at teaching activities is compulsory. Activities are defined as face-to-face sessions, distance learning sessions, participation in working groups and group presentations, and the submission of intermediate work on time. Absence from more than 20% of teaching activities, including failure to hand in intermediate work on time, is considered as non-regular attendance. In accordance with article 72 of the Examination and Study Regulations, the course instructor reserves the right to ask the jury to refuse to register a student with irregular attendance for the examination relating to his or her teaching unit.
