An introductory course in canon law from a theological perspective, challenged by a pragmatic ecclesiology. A theology of canon law based on a commentary on De omnium christifidelium obligationibus et iuribus (Codex 1983).

- The importance of history for canon law
- Major conceptual elements: the main areas of contemporary canon law
- The Code of Canon Law 1983: conception and structure
- Theologies of canon law: between law, pastoral care and theology
Teaching methods
Teaching is based on a portfolio of readings.
Hybrid modalities for synchronous online teaching are possible.
The course is grouped over two Saturdays in February.

Evaluation methods
Written exam in essay format. A list of questions is provided at the end of the course. The exam consists of a theoretical question and a practical case study.
