Main themes
This course aims at defining foreign policy through the history of ideas (apprehension of the concept of political thinking), a political and administrative approach (progressive definition of the structure of the State depending on this activity and of the role of diplomacy), and a content-focussed approach (specific object of foreign policy, and its changes through time). The course then analyses the mechanisms of elaboration and the application of a foreign policy (decision-taking). The study of particular foreign policies (UK, Belgium and a Southern State) will be used as a case study.
Content
The course examines different perspectives of geoeconomy. After studying the characteristics and definition of geoeconomics, the course will study different themas: rare earth, globalisation, shale gas and oil, free trade....
