Pedagogy
During the 2024-2025 academic year, the course will exceptionally operate using a “flipped classroom” pedagogy (video and tutorials to follow). Question-and-answer sessions will be organized at the end of each module. Participation is optional, but this will be the only time when the teacher will answer questions relating to a less well-understood point of the subject.
[N/A in 2024-2025. The course is taught ex cathedra. Regular self-assessment quizzes (Wooclap) will be launched to enable students to assess their understanding of the material. As active participation in the course is significantly correlated with exam success, attendance is strongly recommended].
At various intervals (3 or 4), tests of parts of the course are organized by the teaching assistant(s). Success (or failure) in these tests determines whether the monitoring sessions are compulsory or optional. These monitoring sessions are organized in the computer room and require prior registration by the student (note: if the health situation does not allow it, these sessions will be organized according to adapted procedures communicated on Moodle).
Evaluation methods
Assessment is divided as follows:
  1. Intermediate quizzes and any monitoring tests (30%) = continuous assessment
  2. In-session examination consisting of MCQs and/or open-ended demonstration and/or reflection questions (70%)
For the second session, assessment will be based solely on a written or oral examination (100% final grade).
Other information
The course materials (presentations) as well as a series of complementary content (podcasts, quizzes, etc.) are gradually posted on the Moodle platform.
English-friendly course
  • Questions: students can ask their questions in English
  • Dictionary: students are allowed to use a dictionary (monolingual French dictionary or bilingual French-mother tongue dictionary, as specified by the teacher), including for exams
