From the expertise of Western or Asian specialists of China, the Chiang Ching-Kuo Chair of Chinese civilisation will provide a detailed analysis of a topic related to the Chinese world, either in history or in the contemporary period.
This special question will change every year but it will be related to:
- The national and international political debates.
- Socio-economic problems.
- Socio-religious problems.
- Population and family questions.

Content
The Chair will consist of a series of lectures, upheld with adequate teaching methods, according to the holder of the chair.
Evaluation methods
A critical essay will throw the light on the characteristics of the sources which have been used, their biases and their corollary limits ; the choices made by the authors and their conclusions will also be critically analysed. The student will develop the documentary basis of their essay, propose different angles from which the topic can be approached. They will devote a special attention to the critique of available sources.
