Content
This course treats all the questions that have a link with ecology, both the theoretical concepts illustrated by practical examples, but also the impact of man on ecosystems.
More in detail, the cours deals with
  • the ecology of individuals (abiotic conditions, resources, intraspecific competition, ecological niche)
  • population ecology (life cycles, demography, migration and dispersal, life history, impact of intraspecific competition on populations)
  • community ecology (the different types of interactions between species, interspecific competition and community structure, predator-prey relationships, effects of predation on community structure)
  • ecosystem dynamics (biogeochemical cycles, primary productivity, energy flow through ecosystems, interactions between trophic levels)
  • the biosphere (influence of abiotic conditions on ecosystems, terrestrial and aquatic biomes, biodiversity, impact of the human population)
Practical activities outdoors will help to illustrate the theoretical concepts.
