Cross-disciplinary study of a building and its site, drawing on the different approaches and disciplines taught in the Master's program.
Topics covered:
Identification of heritage(ies) (vocabulary), historical research, archaeological approach, recording techniques, materials analysis, technology and application of traditional structural and finishing materials, pathologies of structures and materials, diagnostics, conservation and restoration techniques, durability and circularity... aiming for an overall analysis of a building and its site, recommendations and a proposed management plan.

Teaching methods
Students are invited to work together on a case study on a given topic. Teachers from this and other teaching units contribute to this cross-disciplinary project. Case study: analytical study of monumental source, archival source, contextual source, written, graphic or oral synthesis.
Evaluation methods
Students work together to produce a well-documented written dossier, and are assessed individually by the teacher and/or co-teachers in an oral or written examination.
