During the first semester, students are introduced to critical thinking by following the MOOC developed by a multidisciplinary team at UCLouvain: "Penser critique" and are introduced to documentary research. During the second semester, the student writes a short individual essay on a range of imposed themes, following a marked path: definition of a research question, research and critical confrontation of sources, data analysis, elaboration of a conclusion.

MOOC (followed on edX), two online group sessions (Teams), individual follow-up via Moodle.
Evaluation methods
The overall grade for the course is the weighted average of the MOOC grade (40%) and the grade obtained for the individual work (60%). The evaluation of the work is done according to a grading grid made available to the students.
The MOOC grade is definitively acquired in January (continuous assessment). Individual work may be repeated in the second session if the student fails.
