Introduction

The objective of this master is to provide advanced training in the different fields of oriental studies, with a focus upon the linguistic, literary, historical and cultural aspects of the civilizations studied.

At the end of this master, the students:

  • will have been trained in literary and philological analysis in the oriental languages they studied;
  • will have developed, through preparing their final assignment, deeper reflections on a specific discipline from within oriental studies.

On the basis of the electives chosen, the students will have acquired skills in the field of either the ancient Mediterranean world, or the Jewish, Oriental Christian and Muslim-Arab world, or of the Asian world (India and the Far East).

Your future job

Students of the course go on to work in the private sector, the public sector and research positions.
They hold a variety of positions there for which their education has provided them with the necessary polyvalence, precision and capacity to learn.
The intellectual rigour and open-mindedness acquired during their training allows the students to establish themselves quickly in their working environment, even if they have not necessarily acquired all the specific technical skills in advance.

Your programme

The master 60 can be completed in a year and offers supplementary training in fields relating to the ancient Oriental and Medieval periods, based upon the study of ancient languages used from the Mediterranean Basin to the Far East.
