Introduction
This bilingual (French–English) Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics offers an interdisciplinary approach designed to foster a deeper understanding of the major challenges facing the contemporary world. The programme’s central premise is that the complementary nature of philosophy, political science and economics, and their capacity for dialogue, provide an ideal foundation for analysing complex social phenomena; however, a thorough mastery of each discipline is a prerequisite for integrating them rigorously.
The programme therefore aims to develop:
- a solid grounding in each of the three disciplines;
- the ability to integrate and compare different analytical tools;
- an interdisciplinary approach to major societal challenges (such as globalisation or climate change);
- critical thinking and applied research skills.
Interdisciplinarity lies at the heart of the curriculum, particularly through ‘integrated’ courses, where a single subject is studied from multiple perspectives. The multilingual and interdisciplinary nature of the programme enhances students’ ability to participate in international exchanges from the Bachelor’s level onwards, and enriches their portfolio of language skills for their future professional and personal lives. Finally, the Bachelor’s degree provides access to Master’s programmes in all three disciplines, enabling students to specialise subsequently with a broader perspective and a more informed choice of specialisation.
Your profile
- You are intellectually curious about the evolution of political, social, and economic life. Your curiosity is such that stepping out of your comfort zone does not deter you.
- You want to change the world, but you are first looking for the right tools to better understand it.
- You want to give yourself time to broaden your horizons through a rich learning experience before making a precise choice of discipline for your Master’s degree.
- You believe in the importance of mastering theoretical concepts and in their ability to help us understand the world and guide us as active participants in it.
- You want to develop the ability to formulate your own ideas in a way that is both creative and rigorous, including the use of mathematical tools when necessary.
