Forms of distance exams

Different forms of exams in distance mode are possible. Teachers will choose the most appropriate modality for the teaching activity, while ensuring that your overall workload for the session is appropriate.

Steps are also taken to familiarize you with the computer tools used for distance assessment.

Work to be submitted

The teacher gives the students the information to complete a piece of work (individual or group). The work shall be done outside or during the session, at the pace chosen by the student or the group. A deadline is set for the submission of the work in digital format. Depending on the instructions, the work can be submitted as an assignment on the Moodle software, via the Gradescope software or by email.

Take home exam

The teacher gives the students in the exam session the instructions for the completion of individual open-book work. Once the exam has been received, the completion time is short, usually a day or two. At the latest by the deadline, the student submits the work in digital format according to the instructions (Moodle assignment, Gradescope submission or email).

Oral examen

A distance oral exam is an oral exam via videoconference. The chosen institutional tool is Teams. The practical details are communicated by the teacher (duration, type of preparation, available documents, connection modalities...).

Unsupervised written exam

This written exam takes place online in a dedicated computer environment, at a time slot that is unique for all students. The exam takes place on a computer via a platform such as Moodle or Gradescope. The practical modalities (type of questions, open or closed books, access...) will be given by the teacher.

Proctored written exam

This written exam takes place online in a dedicated computer environment, at a time slot that is unique for all students. The exam takes place on a computer via a dedicated platform. Two platforms have been selected: TestWe and WiseFlow. An identity check is carried out at the beginning of the exam (taking a photo of the student and his/her student card). During this type of exam, the computer is automatically locked and does not allow the student to consult resources on his/her computer or on the Internet.  The student is informed by the teacher of the practical arrangements. A mock test will be offered beforehand to all students concerned. The students for whom such a tool will be used will be informed in a transparent manner of how the tool works.
