UCLouvain opens its Access2University program to refugees from Ukraine

Applications for the academic year 2022-23 are now closed.

The Access2University program offers academic and extra-academic activities to refugees who had to interrupt their university activities.

Refugees from Ukraine can join the ongoing program.

For whom?

Any person who has had to interrupt his/her university activities due to the conflict in Ukraine and who holds or is applying for temporary protection or refugee status in Belgium.

People who are waiting to apply for protection status can already apply.

The program is mainly aimed at Bachelor and Master students.

If you are a PhD student, a researcher or an academic, we can discuss with you opportunities to participate in scientific activities.

The criteria for applying are: 

  • To have temporary protection in Belgium
  • To have started a university degree at a university in Ukraine at the time of the conflict
  • To have the project to continue your studies/research in Belgium
  • To have a place to live within one hour of the campus (Louvain-la-Neuve)
  • To be available at least two days a week
  • To have basic computer skills
     

What does the program consist of?

A specific program is in place until June 2022.

Participation in academic and extra-academic activities on average two days per week on campus. Options will be considered on a case-by-case basis according to need :

  1. For students : 
    • Language courses: French and/or English 
    • Academic activities: faculty courses (as a free student), seminars, conferences, internships, etc. (no scholarship)
    • Extra-academic activities: sports, socio-cultural and integration activities (buddy system)
  2. For PhD students : 
    • Language courses: French and/or English
    • Academic activities: access to infrastructure, libraries and laboratories, networking with other researchers, etc. (no guarantee of research grants)
    • Extra-academic activities: sports, socio-cultural activities and mentoring system between researchers

This programme does not allow you to finish in Belgium the studies started during the year 2021-2022 in Ukraine, but to follow new activities on our campus until the end of June 2022.

Moreover, this programme does not guarantee you an automatic admission to our university for the academic year 2022-2023.

Please note that places are limited and applications are subject to selection based on compliance with the criteria. Applications must be submitted by 20 April 2022 at the latest.
