Application procedures

If you would like to enrol in one of the international programmes of the Faculty of Philosophy, Arts and Letters, follow the Enrolment Office application procedures, which depend on your prior degree, nationality and place of residence.

Attention! If you are interested in one of the dual degree programmes, consult the ‘selection and admission’ section of each programme’s webpage.

Step 1
Verify that you meet your desired programme’s application requirements, which are listed in the ‘application requirements’ section of each programme’s webpage.

If you have any questions, contact FIAL’s International Relations Department or the faculty advisor.

Step 2
If you meet the application requirements, submit the online application form by:

  • April 30th if you are a national of a country outside the European Union and do not live in Belgium or
  • August 31st if you are a national of a European Union country and do not live in Belgium or
  • September 15th if you live in Belgium, whatever your nationality.

The application admission form is available in French or English.

In the ‘Desired programme’ field, you must choose a field of study.

Choose ‘Languages, literature and translation studies’ if you are interested in any of the following master’s programmes:

Choose ‘Information and communication’ if you are interested in the master’s degree [120] in multilingual communication.

A list of programmes will appear. Choose the one that interests you.

Step 3
Confirm your completed application form. You will receive an acknowledgment of receipt with your application number and the name and address of your application manager, who must receive by post all required application documents within 30 days.

Please note that if you are a national of a country outside the European Union and do not have Belgian student status, you are required to pay an application fee of €83.50 and send proof of payment with the required application documents. If you are admitted, this sum will be deducted from your tuition fee. For more details see the ‘Financial aspects’ section in the Enrolment Office FAQs.
