According to measures in force within UCLouvain, and until further notice...

Courses

  • Following consultation between the rectors of Belgium's French-speaking universities, the decision was taken to extend distance learning until the end of the quadrimester, i.e. up to and including 16.05.20.

  • From Monday 16.03.20 (M60) or Monday 23.03.20 (Master 120), all courses (lectures and exercises) will pass from face-to-face to virtual organisation, primarily using Microsoft Teams, but also the standard platforms Moodle and StudentCorner. Please install Teams and get familiar with the functions. Each course has an area (« team ») carrying the course code (e.g. « LLSMS2033 »). As soon as the professor has activated the course, you will see it appearing on your Teams dashboard and your can then access the course.

  • Many professors are currently restructuring the contents to make it as appropriate as possible, this means that some course plans will change during the week.
Please pay close attention to the instructions for each course — although the lectures should start at the scheduled slot and day, the length and format may be adapted to the contents.

  • Note that the schedule of the course remains valid unless other information is given on Moodle and StudentCorner. Thus, each lecture is given virtually on the day and time originally scheduled in ADE.

  • The modes of evaluation and the modules in the courses may have to be changed. Some interactive modules, site visits and group work may be replaced by individual work, reading or online exercises, to be specified by each instructor. For all courses, there will be no requirement to attend physically at any event until at least 19.04.20. LSM may prolong the distance teaching for some courses to open the possibility to follow an entire course offsite, this will be confirmed in due time.

  • Note that the computer labs so far are open for individual visits, but no classes are scheduled. In the case specific software is necessary to solve an assignment, your professor will try to find an open software, a trial version or another solution to enable you to work at your own computer.

  • If you lack information concerning a specific course, please contact the responsable professor to clarify.
In case of non-response or other problems, please contact your Programme Manager by email (contacts below).

Textbooks

  • On your Moodle and StudentCorner platform you will find most course material (syllabi, papers, cases, assignments) for download.
However, most courses also require or recommend some textbook or manual. Given the closed libraries and bookstores, the access to this type of material is limited and expensive.

  • To give you free access to a range of textbooks, LSM has obtained a six-week free access to PERLEGO, a spotify-type platform for textbooks.
Using the login below, you will find a large set of textbooks and manuals in all disciplines.
However, verify with your course plans - PERLEGO may not have exactly the book for all your courses. In such cases, your professor may recommend a substitute on the platform or another solution.

    • Log on to Perlego.

    • Sign up by using the LSM unique code: A8BECD.

    • Create an arbitrary password for yourself.

    • Learn the system using the tutorial.

  • You can also use this DUC online service.

Exams

  • UClouvain is currently working with the hypothesis that the exam session will be organised in June during the regular calendar, with facilities for those confined abroad or in Belgium.
For obvious reasons, we cannot confirm this until later in the semester.
Please wait for more information from the Rector on this point, the School has no additional information to offer at this point.

Student exchanges / International students

  • We strongly advise students currently abroad to return to Belgium.
If you have reasons for wanting to stay, we ask you to explain your situation with the person who manages your mobility in your faculty.
Please fill in the online form in order to better follow the particular situation you are in, even if you are already back in Belgium.
Any question? Please check our FAQ (EN) / FAQ (FR)

  • All student mobility departures must be postponed or cancelled. This provision is valid until at least 19.04.20.

  • Any exchange student is free to leave the university and go back home. We would clearly understand the decision.
