Dimitri Zurstrassen holds a bachelor's degree in contemporary history from the Université Libre de Bruxelles (Belgium) and a master's degree in contemporary history from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. He is currently a doctoral researcher in contemporary history at Sorbonne University and UCLouvain (Belgium). His doctoral project focuses on the study of the evolution of the industrial policy of the European Communities/European Union from 1974 to 2002 through the analysis of the European Commission's interventions in the steel sector (http://www.theses.fr/s159027).
He has participated in several research projects on the history of European integration such as the oral history project of the European Commission (1986-2000) coordinated by UCLouvain, the oral history of the European Court of Justice, coordinated by the Max Planck Institute for the History and Theory of Law in Frankfurt
(Germany). He was also project coordinator at the Brussels Studies Institute (Brussels) between June 2019 and June 2020 for the construction of an online course (Massive Open Online Course-MOOC) on Brussels (https://bsi.brussels/fr/brooc/).
He is also the author of several publications on the history of EU industrial policy, such as the book "EU industrial policy in the multipolar economy", co-edited with colleagues from KU Leuven and UCLouvain (https://www.e-elgar.com/shop/gbp/eu-industrial-policy-in-the-multipolar-economy-9781800372627.html);
As an academic expert, he is currently a member of the scientific committee of the Eurosteelmaster (European Advanced Course Training Course for the Worldwide Steel Sector) organised by RINA with the support of Eurofer, the European Commission and IndustriAll.
