Security and incentives of sharing economy systems using blockchain

By Michał Krol,  research associate in the Computer Science Department at UCLouvain

The current cloud-oriented, centralized Internet model faces several problems including privacy issues, centralized security policies and power disproportion.

As as result, recently, a plethora of distributed platforms emerged to facilitate users cooperation to achieve common goals such a file hosting, computation offloading, content creation and more. To function properly, the collaborative platforms based on a sharing economy model require strong security properties and reliable incentives for workers.

In this talk, we present Airtnt - a fair exchange protocol for computation offloading using SGX and Proof of Prestige - a useful work reward system for unverifiable tasks built on top of Proof of Stake.
