Attosecond controle of magnetism with an ultrashort electromagnetic pulse at the atomic scale

We solve numerically the Pauli equation associated to the interaction of atomic hydrogen with an ultrashort laser pulse. In the non relativistic limit, the presence of interaction terms involving successive time derivatives of the electric field and the electronic spin indicates that attosecond pulses could induce spin flips at the atomic scale.
