Pharmabiotics Young Investigators Award 2018 for Prof Laure Bindels

Bruxelles Woluwe

On March 19, 2018, Laure Bindels, Professor at the Louvain Drug Research Institute, was awarded the Pharmabiotics Young Investigators Award 2018 for her work on the gut microbiota as a therapeutic target in cancer cachexia. Such work highlights the importance of the gut and its microbes to target cancer cachexia, paving the way to new therapeutic opportunities.

The Pharmabiotics Young Investigator Awards 2018 is a co-initiative between Institut Mérieux and the Pharmabiotic Research Institute in which an award of €10,000 is granted to a young clinician or academic around the world working within the field of Microbiotic Medicinal Products. Such award will help Prof Bindels and her newly established team to move forward in the investigation of new mechanistic pathways involved in the gut microbiota–host crosstalk in cancer cachexia.
