The Chair in circular and regenerative economy Research Project
Sanitary, financial, climatic, demographic, economic and other crises, our occidental society model seems to have reached its limits. Solutions from the past will not be applicable to tomorrow’s world that promises to be very different in the light of the already noticeable increasing demography, environmental threats and technological disruptions. The negative externalities brought by the current model will not be sustainable in a world where 9 billion people share the finite space of our planet.
To meet those numerous challenges, companies need to question their business model and seek other ways to organize their economic activities. Among many other proposed solutions, the circular economy model seems able to contribute substantially to the issues faced by companies as far as climatic change, scarcity of non-renewable resources and loss of biodiversity are concerned.
