The Louvain Aging Brain LAB (P.I.: Hanseeuw) is looking to hire a highly motivated post-doctoral fellow with a PhD in neuroimaging (MRI or PET) to work on the impact of synaptic biomarkers on the regional distribution of tau deposition observed using PET.
The LAB recruits clinically normal volunteers as well as patients attending the Memory Clinic of Saint-Luc University Hospital where the P.I. works half time. We are participating in major clinical trials in the field of Alzheimer’s disease and are part of several large consortia, such as AMYPAD (Amyloid Imaging for Preventing Alzheimer’s disease) collecting thousands of scans across Europe.
We have acquired F18Flutemetamol amyloid-PET in ± 250 participants and F18MK2640 tau-PET in ±125 participants (ongoing recruitment). Participants have (functional) MRI and cognitive testing every other year. Since 2020, participants also have blood test for plasma biomarkers, analyzed using SiMOA. The LAB includes a post-doctoral fellow in neuropsychology, four PhD students in neuroimaging and two other PhD students in biochemistry (CSF/plasma). Among the strengths of the LAB, you will find high recruitment from the Memory Clinic (on campus), close collaboration between wet and dry labs, and good humor!!
The main roles of the post-doctoral researcher will be to:
- Manage the neuroimaging data acquired in the lab (database maintenance)
- Conduct statistical analyses in our local and international multimodal datasets to better understand (biochemical) factors predicting the regional distribution of tau pathology, and the consequences on cognition
- Provide guidance to PhD students for imaging processing/analyses
- Initiate the acquisition of synaptic SV2A-PET and 7T-MRI (in Liege)
The LAB is located in the Brussels campus of UCLouvain (Woluwé, Belgium).
Funding is available for two years. Longer stays are possible if the postdoc applies for additional funding in Belgium or abroad. Start date is flexible between July 1, 2022 and January 1, 2023.
